The Specimen Hunter's Choice

This stretch is a heavy-hitter for those targeting the Trent’s "big three." The flow here creates ideal holding spots for nomadic specimens:

  • Power & Scale: The river here is noted for large Barbel, specimen Chub, and hard-fighting Carp. These fish use the natural features of the meadows to patrol for food, often reaching impressive weights.

  • Primary Tactics: Feeder fishing is the undisputed king here. Using a stout rod and a large block-end or cage feeder with high-protein baits (like halibut pellets or boilies) is the most effective way to tempt the resident giants.

  • Autumn Silvers: As the leaves begin to turn, the Roach fishing becomes exceptional. During the autumn months, the silvers congregate here, providing fast-paced sport for those using traditional float or light feeder tactics.

Fishery Access & Rules

Please note that this is one of our more exclusive stretches, requiring valid credentials to fish:

  • Match Bookings: The Federation welcomes club match bookings for this stretch, though it remains a favorite for quiet, solo pleasure sessions.

  • Boundaries: Our rights cover the two fields starting from the end of the first meadow downstream from the ferry site.

  • Closed Season: This water is subject to the statutory closed season (March 15th to June 15th inclusive).
