River Trent: Powergen Water (20 Pegs)

This versatile 20-peg stretch is a "tale of two halves," offering distinctly different environments for both the matchman and the specimen seeker. With the convenience of parking behind most pegs, it is one of the most accessible and comfortable spots to spend a day on the Trent.

The Fishery Layout

Whether you prefer deep, steady water or fast-flowing gravel runs, this stretch has you covered:

  • The Upper Pegs (Deeper Water): These pegs feature average depths and a steadier flow. They are a magnet for massive Bream, with specimens frequently reaching double figures. It’s the perfect spot for a targeted feeder approach with groundbait and pellets.

  • The Downstream Pegs (Shallower & Faster): As the river thins and picks up pace, the habitat changes. These shallower runs are "big fish" territory, known for holding powerful River Carp and hard-fighting Barbel.

Why Fish Here?

  • Specimen Potential: This isn't just a numbers water; the size of the Bream and Carp here rivals any stillwater, but with the added power of the Trent current.

  • Unbeatable Access: The ability to park your vehicle directly behind your peg makes this an ideal choice for anglers with a lot of gear or those who want a hassle-free session.

  • Diverse Tactics: On any given day, you can successfully fish a heavy feeder for the Bream or a stout specimen rod for the Carp and Barbel.

  • Seasonality: This water is subject to the statutory closed season (March 15th to June 15th inclusive).

Access & Directions: Powergen

Getting to the Beeston Weir stretch is a straightforward extension of the Clifton Bridge route. This path takes you into a dedicated fishing area where convenience meets quality.

Step-by-Step Directions

  1. Initial Approach: Follow the directions for Clifton Bridge: From the island on the north side, turn onto Lenton Lane, keep left, and pass through the gate.

  2. Passing the Bridge: Drive down to the area directly under Clifton Bridge.

  3. The Lower Field: Continue driving downstream (away from the bridge) into the next field.

  4. Arrival: You will find the 20-peg stretch located here, with the weir downstream in the distance.

Parking & Site Rules

We are fortunate to have excellent access on this stretch. To ensure we keep it, please follow these strict Federation regulations:

  • Designated Parking: Use the new parking bays located just off the path. You can park behind most pegs, making it easy to unload your gear.

  • Keep Tracks Clear: Do not park on or obstruct the access track at any time. Farm vehicles and emergency services must have constant access.

  • Strict Speed Limit: The site speed limit must be strictly observed.

[!CAUTION] Zero Tolerance: The Federation takes safety and dust control seriously. Anyone caught speeding on the access tracks will be immediately expelled from the Federation. Please drive with care and respect for the land.

Angling Strategy:

  • For the Bream: Focus on the upper, deeper pegs. A large cage feeder with sweet groundbait and corn or worm often picks out those double-figure slabs.

  • For the Barbel/Carp: Head to the shallower downstream pegs. Use robust gear and a "heavy" approach—large halibut pellets or boilies over a bed of hemp work wonders in the faster water.

Enjoy your session on one of the Trent's most diverse stretches. Remember: Drive slowly, park in the bays, and keep your landing net ready!
