Rules

Access to all Nottingham Federation waters and affiliated clubs is contingent upon the strict observance of the following regulations. These standards are in place not just for order, but to safeguard the longevity of our sport and the health of our local ecosystems. By maintaining membership, you agree to uphold these essential protections.


Nottingham Federation Rules & Regulations

Night Fishing

Night fishing is a privilege reserved for our full members. Please note that Night Fishing is for Photo ID Card holders only; temporary or day tickets do not permit night fishing.

Permitted Waters:

  • Clifton Bridge*, Powergen Water*, Viaducts*, Finger Ponds*

  • Thrumpton, Penton’s Field, Hazelford, and Carlton-on-Trent.

  • Note: Night fishing is strictly prohibited on the Nottingham Canal.

  • *Requires a key for access.

Night Fishing Conduct: Anyone found in breach of the following will be expelled from the Federation:

  • No fires or BBQs under any circumstances.

  • No bank digging or altering the natural environment.

  • Noise Control: No radios or offensive noises; please respect your fellow anglers and local residents.

  • Zero Tolerance on Litter: All waste must be taken home.

  • Personal Safety: Anglers choose to fish at night at their own risk.


General Rules

  1. Unauthorised Matches: No pegging or matches are allowed on any Federation waters without prior written consent.

  2. Spinning: Prohibited in Federation ponds until October 1st. These methods are also banned wherever matches are currently in progress.

  3. NO LIVE BAITING: Under no circumstances is the use of live bait permitted on any of our waters. This rule is strictly enforced.
  4. Catch & Release: All fish must be returned safely to the water.

  5. Match Bookings: Applications must be made to the Secretary (Paul Warwick: 07761 148409). Dates are allocated on a first-come, first-served basis. Permits are only issued once the full fee is received.

  6. Pre-Match Restrictions: Members must not fish after midnight on the day preceding a booked match, or after 4:00 PM on the day of an evening match.

  7. Borrowash: This water is strictly Members Only.

  8. Member Bailiffs: All members are considered honorary bailiffs. You are requested to report any rule-breaking or incidents that may bring the Federation into disrepute to the Secretary immediately.

  9. Bait Bans: The use of Bloodworm, Feed worm, and Jokers is strictly banned on all Federation waters.

  10. Land & Property: All members must close gates, avoid damaging fences or crops, and refrain from bank digging.

  11. Litter: Leave no litter of any description. Our "Leave No Trace" policy is strictly enforced.


Liability & Compliance

Liability

The Federation Committee and its officers accept no liability for injury, loss, or damage to persons, equipment, or vehicles. This applies while fishing, approaching, or leaving any lands, access routes, or car parks owned or leased by the Federation. Members and guests utilize these facilities entirely at their own risk.

Supervision of Minors

To ensure the safety of our younger anglers and the security of our waters, all persons under the age of 16 must be accompanied and supervised by a responsible adult (aged 18 or over) at all times.

Compliance & Responsibility

  • Knowledge of Rules: All members are expected to be fully conversant with Federation regulations.

  • Accountability: Ignorance of these rules will not be accepted as an excuse for non-compliance.

  • Enforcement: Failure to adhere to these standards or ensure the proper supervision of minors may result in the immediate suspension of membership.
