Division one section "A" (Viaducts)

Last Saturday saw the Angling Trust Division one national fished on the Trent. Radcliffe Viaducts was used for A section, and saw 49 anglers from all over the country pegged on our water.

We used the whole of the Viaducts plus the bottom field down to the caravan park at Radcliffe. I'm pleased to report that it fished really well, with the Liam Page- Smith fishing for Comic A4 taking 36kg of Bream  to the scales. This was enough for him to be crowned individual champion for 2022. Well done Liam. Their were other good weights recorded With Drennan Leicester Star Andy Starkey taking 24kg and Mark Hawksworth fishing for Scunthorpe 21kg.It was more pleasing to see that 17 of the forty nine anglers had a weight of more than ten pounds, which made it one of the best sections on the day.
For members interest the top three weights at Radcliffe were all caught in the bottom field. There are about 14 pegs down there, with most being cut out for the National championships. There are four before the power cables, the one above the cables winning the team match this year, with forty pounds of Bream. Two pegs just below the cables which look fantastic, and local angler Mark Morris fishing for Barnstone ac catching twenty pounds of bream on the second one down. Mark also told me he played a large Barbel for a few minutes before loosing it. There is quite a long gap then the rest of the pegs down to the bottom all caught bream on the feeder. These are on a gravel beech and you may need to wade. Unfortunately you can't drive to these pegs, but it may be worth lightening your kit off and enjoying some of the beast fishing in Nottingham at the moment.
